The Story behind my First- Selling Painting

YOU KNOW THAT KID THAT WAS CONSTANTLY DRAWING AND PAINTING AND ALWAYS WANTED TO BE AN ARTIST?

Welp, that was me!!!!

I was always very talented, and I was always interested in art. Everything I enjoyed was artistic. After school, I established a successful business, a hair salon. And I painted. I always painted, but I didn’t show anyone. One day a friend came to my salon and told me his daughter needed a medical procedure in the USA, but he didn’t have the money. I decided that I would organize an art show with local artists, and we would sell our paintings and works of art to raise funds. My business was successful, and I was connected to the TV and newspapers, so I advertised the art show. 75 artists came from across Crete, all donating their artwork. The show was a big success. We sold everything. My art sold too. In fact, the first painting that we sold was mine. I was encouraged. I heard such good things about my art that I began to think that maybe I was talented.

One year later (2010), I had the confidence to hold my first solo show. One day, a taxi stopped in front of my show and a woman asked to speak to me. She was a much respected and well-known art critic in Greece. I sat with her, and we talked. She had seen my solo art show and told me my art was special. She was shocked to hear that I hadn’t studied art and encouraged me to attend art school at the university. She then spoke with a professor of art she knew at the university and requested that I be accepted into the art program. I was accepted and attended the university for 3 years.

I have been a fan of Olga’s art since the moment I stepped into her salon in 2016 and saw her work hanging on the walls. I love the techniques and textures Olga uses to express her creativity and talent. I hope you enjoy Olga’s talent as much as I do!

I met Olga through Facebook. I have a Master’s Degree in English, and amongst my other passions are art and dance. I was immediately stunned by the beauty of her paintings. We became Facebook friends, and as we learned more about each other, I discovered that she is a rare and special lady with many talents. She is truly a “Renaissance woman!” I am impressed with her multi -faceted skills, talents, and creative eye. She is a beautiful person, inside and out. Her art makes this world a more beautiful place, as does Olga!

Olga has the charisma to combines realism with imagination. Her artwork is characterized by an innovative and versatile use of imagery, textures, and mark-making. She has a superb sense of composition, design, and contrast and conveys a remarkable sense of balance and harmony. Her pictures travel our minds to a magical and dreamy world. As the great Mahatma Gandhi said “Abstract truth has no value unless it incarnates in human being who represent it, by proving their readiness to die for it.”
    – Thank you Olga for this unique emotion.
